Classes and Events
OLLI at Granite State College offers an exciting array of programs and activities that are shaped by the interests of the members.
Rich in educational content, shared interests and life experiences, they are energetic and full of lively debate! You'll find yourself alongside other adults like you -- with similar maturity and goals.
There are no entrance requirements, tests, grades, and no need for prior college experience -- just the chance to join your peers in learning for the fun of it.
Programs may be led by Granite State College faculty, retired educators, topic experts, and qualified members. Most program activities are planned for daytime hours at easily accessible locations in the community.
Registration Tips
Here are some “words of wisdom” to keep in mind and hopefully, make the registration process go more smoothly. While the staff is always working to improve the system, registration is still a very hands-on, manual process. Thank you for your patience and understanding in this hectic time.
- Registration opens as soon as you receive your catalog.
- Members are given the opportunity to register for classes before any other category of students. OLLI members are mailed the catalog via first class mail before the classes are posted on the OLLI web site or mailed to non-members on the mailing list.
- Every year classes fill quickly, many within the first few days of registration. If there is a class that you want to take above any other, please call the office to register as soon as you receive your catalog. You can always register for more classes later. Do not wait until the Kick-off event to register for that special class, it might already be full.
- Do not put two people on one registration form.
- OLLI cannot take a registration without payment.
- We cannot hold a space in a class. If you leave a voicemail message expressing your wish to register for a certain class, that does not count as registering for the class nor can a seat be held for you based on that voicemail message.
- All registrations are processed in the order in which they are received.
- Please be aware that the OLLI Office gets as many as 40 voicemail messages a day (in addition to phone calls) during peak registration times. During those times the mailbox will not accept messages when the office is closed. Please be patient. Your call will be returned as soon as possible. If you call the office during business hours (Mon-Thurs, 9:00 AM-5:00 PM) and are directed to voicemail then the staff/volunteers are already on the phone or away from their desks.
- If, when we receive your registration, the class is already full, your name will be placed on a waiting list, you will be contacted and the class fee will be refunded to you.
- Names are placed on the waiting list in the order in which we receive the registration.
- Once a class is full and a waiting list is started, efforts are made to move as many people off the waiting lists as possible. Presenters are contacted to see if they are willing to teach a larger class or teach a second section. Other venues are contacted to see if we can move the class to a larger room. If your name can be moved off the waiting list and into the class, you will be contacted. If you are not contacted, then you did not get into the class.
- You will receive a refund during registration if the class you wanted is full and you were placed on a waiting list or you renewed your membership before it was due. In both cases you will be contacted (usually via phone) by an office volunteer or a staff member. A message may be left if no one is home.
- Refunds will take the form of your original payment. A check from USNH will be mailed from Durham if you paid by check. A credit will be issued to your debit or credit card if that payment method was used. Since this is a high volume period, please allow up to 3 weeks for your refund to reach you. If a month has passed since you were contacted about a refund and you have still not received it, please call (603-513-1377) or email (olli.office@granite.edu) the OLLI Office.
- Confirmations will not be sent. If you are not contacted by the OLLI Office you should assume that your registration form was processed and there were no problems.
- Please keep a record of the classes for which you registered.
